The Yankees-Red Sox rivalry has always been must watch baseball. While there have been fewer brawls and many of the superstars have retired, the games are still entertaining. This recent Sunday Night Baseball proved no different.
The Yankees were clinging onto a 2-1 lead heading into the top of the ninth when Aroldis Chapman was brought into the game. Chapman looked great early, throwing 101-103 miles-per-hour with ease. Then 20-year-old rookie Rafael Devers stepped to the plate to face Chapman, and took a 103-mile-per-hour fastball over the left center field wall to tie the game at 2.
Chapman, as well as almost all of Yankee Stadium, was in utter disbelief after the homerun, including this Yankees fan, who was videotaping himself. Check out the video below to see his full reaction.
As a Yankees fan myself, I was a little more vocal than this fan was. I was yelling and using some choice language as I saw the ball fly over the wall and witnessed another Yankees bullpen collapse. But this reaction was priceless.
He went from elation to concern, to disbelief to shock in about five seconds. His heart looked broken, and he acted as all other Yankees fans when they saw that home run fly over the wall.
Fan reactions are always comical, but this one was fantastic because of the change in his mood so quickly. You gotta feel for the guy, as he looked so confident, then watched his hopes and dreams shattered in front if his eyes.
