Eric Sim's story is one of the most authentic in baseball. Drafted by the San Francisco Giants out of Colby Community College — a JUCO — he grinded through six seasons in the Giants' system before the game sent him another direction. Instead of walking away from baseball, he doubled down on it.
During the pandemic, Eric started posting videos training to hit 95 mph on the radar gun. No fancy facilities. No corporate sponsorship. Just a guy who loved baseball, putting in the work. The baseball internet found him — and it couldn't look away. By November 2020, he hit his goal. And by then, a massive community had formed around his journey.
That's the JUCO Bandit mentality he coined: a high-quality player who grinds, improves, and never lets the path define the destination. He took that mentality from the mound to YouTube, and millions of baseball fans — players, parents, and fans alike — saw themselves in his story.
