SZN 2 vs. Rotation Backpack: Which One Is Right for Your Player?

BL101's back-to-school lineup this year includes two different backpacks built for baseball kids — the SZN 2 and the Rotation. They look like they serve the same purpose, but they're actually designed for different players and different situations. Here's a breakdown of each so you can pick the right one.

The SZN 2 Backpack: Built for the Full Load

The SZN 2 is the bigger bag. With 1,554 cubic inches of storage and a 12-inch width, it has room for everything — school supplies, a change of clothes, gear, snacks, and more. It's built for players who need to carry a lot and want one bag that handles all of it.

It's also built with baseball players in mind. The molded plastic hang hook on the back lets your player hang their bag in the dugout just like their bat bag — keeping it off the ground and easy to access between innings. The rubberized bottom panel adds durability for the times it does hit the ground.

Beyond that, the SZN 2 fits laptops up to 14 inches, has a padded back panel and perforated mesh shoulder straps for all-day comfort, a display window for patches, and a crossbag strap for over-the-shoulder carrying when needed.

Best for: Older players (middle school and up) who need a full-size bag for school and the field. The SZN 2 is a large bag — on younger or smaller kids it can be quite big, so sizing matters here.

The Rotation Backpack: Built for Fast, Light Travel

The Rotation is the smaller bag. At 11" x 7" x 16.5", it's compact by design — built for players who don't need to haul everything, just the essentials. It's lighter, easier to carry, and doesn't overwhelm a smaller kid.

The fabric is a high-density polyester with a knitted backing — durable but with just enough softness and flexibility that the bag doesn't look awkward when it's not completely full. It's also water resistant, which is a nice bonus for rainy game days or dewy morning practices.

Inside, there's a front organization pocket for personal items, a soft padded compartment in the back for a tablet or laptop, and two expandable elastic water bottle holders on top. Both main compartments use wide zippers designed for fast, easy access. There's also a woven strap on the back that slides over a rolling luggage handle — handy for travel days or tournaments.

Best for: Younger players or anyone who prefers a lighter, less bulky bag. The Rotation is also a great option for travel weekends where you're moving fast and don't want a big bag getting in the way.

Side by Side Comparison

Which One Should You Get?

If your player is in middle school or older and needs a bag that carries everything — and especially if hanging in the dugout matters to them — the SZN 2 is the pick.

If your player is younger or smaller, or if you're looking for a lighter travel bag that doesn't swallow a kid whole, the Rotation is the better fit. It's also a solid second bag for older players who want something easy for lighter days or tournaments.

When in doubt, go with the Rotation for younger players and the SZN 2 for older ones. What we've shown you here is just a small sampling of all of our styles - get ready for our biggest collection ever! Both bags are part of the BL101 Back to School Collection — available on 6/26!
