A tournament Saturday can start at 44°F and finish at 71°F. You're on a metal bench for six hours, you're carrying the cooler, and there are usually photos at some point. Most of what's written about baseball apparel is about what the player wears.
This is about what you wear: four outfits that hold up for a full day, what size to buy, and how to handle the temperature swing.
One Good Piece, and the Rest is Yours
You already own jeans, leggings and shorts that fit you properly. The simplest approach is to add one piece from us and keep everything else plain.
That also avoids the most common mistake, which is wearing a printed tee with the matching printed shorts. Together they look like a set intended for a younger wearer. The same tee with straight-leg denim doesn't.
One print at a time. The exception is a solid fleece set, which is covered further down.
Getting the Size Right
Our sizing is simpler than most lines: one set of sizes runs the whole catalog, youth through adult, so you work it out once and it applies to tees, hoodies, crewnecks and bottoms alike.
Most women land a size below what they expect. In a regular tee, adult S is a 41" chest and 29" long, M is 43" and 30", and L is 45" and 31". A women's medium usually sits nearer 38", so your normal size here will come out oversized and one size down will sit closer to fitted. Either is fine — it depends which you want.
Youth XL is worth knowing about. In a regular tee it's a 39" chest and 26" long. If you're petite, that's often the better fit, and it's the same shirt.
The most useful detail is in the Relaxed Fit Tee. YXL is a 41.75" chest and 24" long. Adult S is 42" and 26.5". Nearly the same width, two and a half inches different in length. If you want the oversized shoulder and chest without the extra length, YXL is the better choice. That isn't obvious from the product page.
Our crewneck runs large. Size down if you're between sizes. It's the one place in the line where we'd suggest going smaller.
Full measurements for every garment are in the BL101 Sizing Guide.
Build One: Relaxed Tee and Straight-Leg Jeans

The everyday version, and the one that still works for school pickup on the way home.
Wear a relaxed tee in YXL or S with straight-leg or barrel-leg denim and sneakers. Tucking just the front hem gives the shirt some shape at the waist without making it fitted.
-
Jackson Olson Hometown Relaxed Tee — $34.99
-
Bat and Bridle Relaxed Tee — $39.99
-
Dust Don't Settle Relaxed Tee — $39.99
-
Wave Goodbye Relaxed Tee — $39.99
-
Diamond Drift Vintage Relaxed Tee — $34.99
Bat and Bridle, Dust Don't Settle and Diamond Drift sit in the vintage, western-leaning part of the line if you'd rather have something with no slogan on it. The rest are in Oversized & Relaxed Tees.
Build Two: Hoodie and Leggings

For a 7am first pitch, an oversized hoodie over black leggings is hard to improve on. The only decision that matters much is the hoodie.
The Baseline Hoodie ($69.99) is heavyweight fleece with a length that sits well over leggings. Light Blue, Heather Gray, Powder Blue and Lilac are the strongest colorways right now, alongside black and navy.
Black leggings work best underneath, since the hoodie is the color in the outfit.
Build Three: One Bright Piece and Denim Shorts

In warm weather, one bright piece with plain bottoms is enough.
Our Ice Cream colorways are part of the core palette rather than a seasonal add-on, and they're the easiest way to wear something that isn't a neutral. The Ice Cream Tee is $31.99 in:
-
Cotton Candy — the signature one
-
Strawberry
-
Cherry
-
Blueberry Lemonade
-
Midnight Sundae — the darkest of them, if pastel isn't your thing
-
Vanilla
Wear any of them with denim shorts and slides. We'd skip the matching Ice Cream shorts here — they work better on your player than as half of a matching set.
Build Four: The Baseline Set

This is the exception mentioned earlier.
A heavyweight fleece hoodie and jogger in one solid colour is a tracksuit, and tracksuits are designed to match. That's a different thing from a printed shirt worn with its matching printed shorts.
Baseline Hoodie ($69.99) and Baseline Joggers ($59.99) come in matched colorways — Black and Powder Blue, Light Blue, Navy & Heather Gray sets. There's a straight-leg sweatpant in Heather Gray and Black if you'd rather not have a cuffed ankle.
It's a good option for an early departure and a long drive home, which covers most of a tournament weekend. The full range is in the Baseline Collection.
Accessories

Every hat we make is adjustable or stretch-fit, so there's no measurement to get right. The Diamond Tech Snapback Rope Hat in Mint/White ($39.99) has a mesh back, which helps on a long day in the sun.
Adult Slides in Cotton Candy Blue ($29.99) are worth keeping in the car for the drive home. A blanket makes metal bleachers considerably better in October. And the Ice Cream Backpack in Strawberry ($59.99) holds a day's worth of things if you're the one carrying them.

Making It Last a Season
Cold wash, inside out, air dry, no fabric softener. Heat is what fades a graphic and relaxes fleece, and softener leaves a film that dulls the colour.
The full guidance is in How to Wash and Care for Baseball Apparel. If you want to know how long a piece should realistically last, we covered that in How Long Youth Baseball Apparel Lasts.
For what to add and at what temperature, the Fall Ball Layering Guide breaks it down by degree.

Frequently Asked Questions
What should a baseball mom wear to tournaments?
Layers you can take off, over bottoms you already own. A relaxed tee or an oversized hoodie with jeans or leggings covers the 25-degree swing between first pitch and the last out. A blanket helps on metal bleachers, and slides are useful for the drive home.
Does BL101 make women's sizes?
Our line runs youth through adult rather than men's and women's, so there's no separate women's cut, but the sizing covers you either way. Adult S is a 41" chest in a regular tee, and plenty of women find Youth XL at 39" fits better. In the Relaxed Fit Tee, YXL and adult S are nearly the same width, with YXL running 2.5" shorter.
What size should a woman buy in BL101?
Most land a size below what they expect, since our adult sizing is cut generously. Your usual size will come out oversized; one down sits closer to fitted. If you're petite, Youth XL is worth trying. The crewneck runs large, so size down there regardless.
What's the most comfortable thing to wear for a long day at the field?
A heavyweight fleece hoodie and jogger set. Nothing digs in after six hours, it's warm enough for an early departure, and it's comfortable for the drive home.
Can I wear youth sizes as an adult?
Yes. Youth XL is a 39" chest and 26" length in a regular tee, which fits many women better than adult S. The designs are identical.
